I was dead wrong about that $30 clamp from Harbor Freight

I have a buddy who swears by their cheap stuff for woodworking and I always gave him grief about it. Last month I needed a 48 inch bar clamp in a hurry for a glue-up on a dining table I was building. Figured I'd grab one as a throwaway and it actually held perfectly straight with no flex at all. Has anyone else had a good run with their random tools or did I just get lucky?

You mentioned the 48 inch bar clamp held straight with no flex, and that's exactly what I found with their F-style clamps. I grabbed a couple of the 36 inch ones for a heavy cabinet glue-up and they didn't budge under pressure. Figured they'd snap or twist, but nope, they did the job just fine. I think Harbor Freight's clamp game is better than people give it credit for.

Is it really that deep over a clamp?
