Overheard a guy at the library last month that flipped my take on audiobooks

I always thought audiobooks were just for people who couldn't sit down and read. Then this older guy at the library in Eugene was talking to a friend about how he'd read 40 books this year just on his commute. He said his retention was actually better because he wasn't skimming like he does with print. I tried one during my drive to work last week and it stuck with me way more than I expected. Has anyone else found their comprehension is different with audio vs reading?

Did you try fiction or nonfiction for your first audiobook? I went with a memoir for my test run and it was like listening to a podcast where the host actually had a point. I found myself remembering the small details because there was no way to skim ahead like I do with a physical book. Now I split them up - light novels when my brain is tired, nonfiction on audio for my commute when I can actually pay attention.

Like listening to a podcast where the host actually had a point." Yep, that about sums it up.
