Lost $300 on a cheap roof repair and now I'm paying triple

Hired a guy off Craigslist last summer to patch a leak in my roof in Marietta. He said it was a simple fix, $300 cash. Three months later that same spot started leaking again during a bad storm. Ended up having to pay a legit company $900 to tear off and redo the whole section because the patch job was done wrong with the wrong materials. That Craigslist guy didn't even leave a real business card. Anyone else get burned by a shady handyman around here?

Learned that lesson myself, cheap fixes always end up costing more in the long run.

Dig deeper into what warning signs he gave off before you handed over the cash. Did he show up in an unmarked truck or use a burner phone number that seemed off. Most of these guys have a pattern of leaving town fast so maybe you can catch the signs next time.
