Found out the hard way that using a impact gun on lug nuts without a torque stick is a fast track to warped rotors

Did 4 tire rotations last week with just the impact and no torque stick because I was in a hurry, and now two customers are back with brake pedal pulsing has anyone else run into this or am I just being lazy with my tools?

Bring up the fact that over-tightening can pull the rotor hat out of true just as fast as uneven torque. You dont need to warp the friction surface directly, the hat flange can bend from the stress and cause the same pulse. Caught that on a fleet truck last month where the impact gun was the real culprit, not the rotor itself.

Hold on, I gotta push back on that a little. Most rotors these days have a pretty thick hat section, and it takes a whole lot more than normal over-tightening to actually bend that flange into a wobble. A simple torque stick on the impact gun is usually enough to keep things straight if the rotor hat isn't already damaged.
