Had a customer bring in a 2003 Civic with a misfire that turned into a full engine teardown

It was supposed to be a simple plug and wire job, but we found metal shavings in the oil pan. Anyone ever had a routine fix spiral like that?

Classic Honda move right there. Go in for a spark plug and come out needing a whole new block. It's like they know you're already under the hood and decide to just give up entirely. Found a whole connecting rod in the pan of an Accord once on what was supposed to be a valve cover gasket. That job got real expensive real fast.

Lol that's rough, but a connecting rod in the pan is a whole different level of broken. Metal shavings usually mean bearings are toast, not a full rod letting go.

Ugh, reminds me of my old Civic's timing belt.
