Hit 10k words on my novel draft last night and honestly I'm kinda bothered

I'm working on a dark fantasy novel set in Portland and I crossed 10,000 words after three weeks of writing. But everyone online acts like word count milestones are always a celebration, and for me it just felt stressful because I had to delete 4k of bad scenes right after. Has anyone else hit a big number and felt more frustrated than proud?

My neighbor told me to wait for a better rate before pulling equity out last fall.

A client's reaction to a new peel had me scrambling for my emergency kit

This past Friday, a regular came in for a gentle lactic acid peel, something she's done before with no issues. About ten minutes after I finished, her face got really red and started to feel hot, way more than normal. I had to grab the aloe gel and cool compress from my emergency kit right away. It turned out she had started a new prescription retinoid three days prior and didn't think to tell me. The whole thing stressed me out, even though it calmed down after about twenty minutes. How do you guys handle intake forms to catch medication changes between appointments?

PSA: I just found out how much coolant flow really matters for tool life

I was reading an old shop manual from the 90s my boss gave me, and it said something that made me stop. It claimed that for a lot of aluminum jobs, increasing coolant flow by just 20% could double the life of an end mill. I thought that sounded crazy, so I tried it on a simple pocketing job we run all the time. I bumped up the flow on our machine and ran the same program. The tool looked way better after the run, with way less built-up edge. I checked the inserts after and they were definitely in better shape. It seems so simple, but I guess I never really paid attention to the flow rate beyond just making sure it was on. Has anyone else done a test like this and seen a real difference?

Instead, I ran the numbers and saw that even at the 6.8% rate I got, the monthly payment increase was manageable for my budget. The key was that I used the cash to replace my entire roof and siding, which immediately raised my home's value by more than the loan amount according to a quick appraisal. If I had waited for a maybe half-point drop, the repair costs would have gone up with inflation anyway. Has anyone else done the math and decided to pull the trigger on a refi even when rates weren't ideal?

Vent: Bought a $400 immersion circulator for the kitchen and it's been a mixed bag

I got a SousVide Supreme circulator for our small restaurant, thinking it would help with prep and consistency on our steak special. It works great for that, but the cleanup and the space it takes on our cramped line is a real pain (we have maybe two square feet of free counter space). Has anyone else found a good way to fit one of these into a tight kitchen setup without it being in the way?
