Had to choose between two test sets and I think I picked wrong

Last month I was deciding between an IFR 4000 and a Viavi 8800SX for our shop here in Tulsa. I went with the IFR because the price was around $4,500 used, but now I'm fighting with its interface daily while the other techs with Viavis breeze through their checks. Has anyone else made a similar call and regretted it?

Oh man, that is a gut punch. I feel your pain on that one, the IFR interface is just clunky and old school no matter how you look at it. You definitely made a decision based on price, but those Viavis are way easier to work with day to day. Hard lesson to learn, isn't it?

And the Viavi guys just walk around all smug with their touchscreens. I've spent more time fighting that IFR menu to find the right test than actually testing stuff. The rotary knob alone makes me want to throw it out the window. You saved some cash upfront but you're paying for it every single day now.
