The old shop in Phoenix made us hand-wire every harness, but now I just order a $2,500 pre-fab kit for the same job in half the time.
I changed my mind after a 737NG mod took three of us a full week to complete, only to have a single pin-out error ground the aircraft for another two days, so who else has ditched the old ways for a modern solution that actually works?

Man, I feel this in my bones. We fought the pre-made harness thing for YEARS, swore our hand work was better. Then a single swapped wire on a landing gear mod cost us a weekend and a ton of grief. Now we just bite the bullet on the certified kit cost. The time saved ALONE is worth it, and you sleep better knowing the pin-out is perfect from the factory. It just makes the whole job less of a headache.

Exactly. Swapped two pins on a nav light circuit once and spent a full day tearing the headliner back out. The factory kits just take the guesswork out of it.
