Got caught in a surprise snowstorm on the High Sierra Trail last September, and now I think everyone overhypes the 'no cotton' rule.

Remember that viral post about the guy who died in cotton on a day hike? Total myth. I wore a cotton flannel shirt fishing in the Rockies last fall, got soaked in a cold rain, and was fine. Just kept moving. The whole thing is gear companies trying to sell more polyester.

Cotton gets a bad rap but it's not instant death. People have been hiking in denim for decades.

Surprise snowstorm" reminds me of getting hailed on in July once!
