Serious question, I dropped $300 on a Garmin inReach Mini for the Wind River Range last summer and it saved my trip when a storm rolled in.

I mean, I was totally off trail and the weather turned bad fast, but I could text my buddy for a pickup point, idk maybe it's just me but has anyone else had a piece of gear totally bail them out like that?

Ever had gear save your skin? My old GPS did that once when I got turned around in some thick fog. @ericgonzalez might call that bad planning too, but stuff happens out there even with a good plan. That inReach is pricey, but being able to text for help off trail is a game changer. Worth every penny when you need it.

Ever think you just planned poorly?

Oh man, @blair626 gets it. Eric must have a crystal ball for planning his trips.
