That perfect night in Flagstaff got ruined by a neighbor's new floodlight
The Milky Way was crystal clear until they switched on a 5000-lumen LED aimed right at my yard. Has anyone else had to deal with a sudden, permanent light source wrecking their spot?

Man, that's the worst. My old apartment had a streetlight that felt like a prison searchlight right into my bedroom. Ended up using blackout curtains and still saw a glow around the edges. Makes you miss simple darkness. Some people just have no clue about light pollution.
