Just realized my sourdough starter was failing because of my tap water in Phoenix.

Honestly, I switched to bottled spring water for feeding it last month and the rise is completely different now. Anyone else in a hard water area deal with this?

My buddy in Phoenix had the same tap water issue.

Did he end up getting a filter or just drink bottled water?

I mean, it's crazy how bad some tap water can get. My cousin in an old building had this weird metallic taste for weeks. They tried a basic pitcher filter and it didn't touch it. Ended up having to get one of those under-sink setups, which was a whole thing with the landlord. Bottled water just got too expensive for cooking and everything.
