Question about baking with a stand mixer at a friend's house in Tacoma
I was making a meringue at my friend's place last week and her KitchenAid's whisk attachment wasn't fully locked, so it flung raw egg white all over her kitchen ceiling. I had to clean it for an hour and the meringue was ruined. Has anyone else had a mixer attachment fail like that?

Wait, the whisk wasn't locked or the whole bowl wasn't locked in place? I've had the paddle attachment pop off before but the whisk usually stays on pretty solid unless you didn't twist it all the way.

Yeah exactly, "twist it all the way" is key. I had a similar thing happen with my KitchenAid - thought I had it locked but the whisk was just barely on there. It flew off at full speed and put a dent in my cabinet. Now I always double check by giving it a firm pull before I turn it on.

Happened to my friend Jess in Seattle. She was making buttercream and the whisk just flew off mid-mix. Hit her in the face, buttercream on the ceiling, the dog, everything. She still finds buttercream in her kitchen sometimes.
