Just saw a local coffee shop refuse a $100 bill for a $3 drink

I was at Brew and Grind in Springfield this morning and the cashier told a customer they don't take large bills because they got burned on counterfeits twice last month, and now I'm wondering how many other small businesses are doing the same thing and if it's worth the hassle.

Yeah, totally get that. @andrewh43, I started keeping a handful of smaller bills on me for places like that especially since cash-only spots are popping up again. Honestly, once I just started asking if they had a minimum or preferred payment method before ordering, it saved a ton of awkwardness.

Man that sucks. I saw a guy try to pay with a $50 at a food truck last week and they just told him to use a card or leave.
