My buddy Carlos swore Venmo was safer than my credit union card

Carlos from work kept telling me to use Venmo for everything because "the bank has your back, bro." So I paid my $850 rent through Venmo last month and the payment got stuck in limbo for 6 days. Landlord almost evicted me and my credit union had to reverse the whole thing. Anyone else have a friend give trash payment advice that backfired big time?

Man that's rough... Venmo is great for splitting pizza but not for anything time-sensitive. Always use a credit card or bank transfer for rent and bills since they've got actual fraud protection built in. Lesson learned the hard way I guess.

Credit card all the way for anything important. I had a similar thing happen with a down payment on a room rental last year, sent it through Zelle and the guy ghosted me. Bank actually refunded it since I had proof of the agreement and it was under their fraud policy. Venmo and Cash App are fine for beer money but theyll leave you hanging when it counts. Now I only use a card for anything over like $50.
