My uncle's $10 bill advice actually worked at the bank drive-thru

My uncle used to say always hand the teller a $10 bill with your deposit slip even if you're not making a cash deposit. I thought he was nuts but tried it last month at a Chase in Phoenix. The teller stopped and actually double-checked my deposit amount instead of just rushing through. Has anyone else tried something weird like that to get better service?

Nah you're missing the real play here. That $10 bill is basically a distraction tax. While she's double checking your deposit you can scope out if she's sloppy with the cash drawer or if the manager is nearby.

I read somewhere that cashiers are trained to spot these kinds of tricks, so you might just end up on some store's "watch list" for the night. @the_sean you're playing a risky game if you think a $10 bill is the best way to test their focus. Most newer registers lock the drawer anyway, so even if she's sloppy, you're not getting in there without a key. Plus, a distracted manager might just call the cops if you make it too obvious. You really think the payout is worth the hassle?
