Remembering the days when a check deposit meant a trip to the bank before 3 PM on a Friday.

Now I just snap a picture from my couch at 10 PM and the funds are usually there by morning, which saved me last week when I forgot about a bill due the next day, but does anyone else miss the routine of actually going to the branch?

Got locked out of my car once because my phone died at a gas station. Had to walk two miles to the nearest open bank branch to get a ride from my mom, who still kept a paper checkbook in her purse. That whole trip felt like a weird time capsule moment, smelling the old carpet and waiting in a real line. The mobile deposit is a lifesaver, but I still remember the bank smell.

Oh man, that bank smell is a specific kind of old. I once went in to get a cashier's check and felt like I'd time traveled back to 1998, just standing there holding my paper slip.
