TIL I finally reached $10k in my savings account after 4 years of trying

I opened a high-yield account in 2021 with just $200. I set up an automatic transfer of $50 every paycheck. I watched it grow slowly, and last month I hit $10k exactly. It surprised me because I didn't think I'd stick with it that long. Has anyone else had a savings milestone sneak up on them like that?

High-yield accounts only average a couple percent, not gonna make ten grand happen faster.

I didn't think I'd stick with it that long" - that's exactly how I felt when I hit my first $5k. I had the same setup, automatic transfers every month, and one day I just checked my account and couldn't believe it. The slow and steady approach really does work, even when you feel like you're barely making progress. It's wild how those small amounts add up over time without you really noticing. Congrats on hitting that $10k, that's a big deal.

And one day I just checked my account and couldn't believe it" - that's so true. It's like the same thing with exercise or learning a new skill. You just keep showing up and doing the small thing every day, and suddenly you look back and realize how far you've come. The boring stuff really is what adds up.
