Unpopular take: I let a neobank handle my rent payments and got burned on a late fee dispute
I switched my rent autopay to a neobank in Denver thinking it'd be faster than my credit union, but the money sat in pending for 3 extra days and hit my landlord late. The support chat blamed the ACH network and basically told me tough luck, so I ate a $45 late fee. Has anyone actually gotten a neobank to reverse a fee when the delay was clearly on their end?

Oh man, that's brutal. I once tried to be all modern and paid my electric bill through some fintech app and ended up with a "disconnection notice" taped to my door like I was a wanted criminal or something. Never felt more like a broke college student than when a robot customer support agent told me to "kindly understand" the situation.

ACH payments through neobanks can be weird like that. Most of them batch process payments at certain times of day while traditional banks push them through faster, even on weekends. Your credit union probably had a direct connection to the ACH system while the neobank just routes through a middleman. It's worth filing a CFPB complaint if they still refuse to refund it - I've seen that light a fire under their support team before.
