That time I laughed at my buddy for using a level on a roof pitch... he was right

I've been roofing for like 12 years and always just eyeballed the pitch on smaller jobs, thought levels were just for fancy framers. Last spring I was doing a shed in Concord, NH and the homeowner wanted it dead perfect for matching his gutters... I was off by almost 2 degrees and had to redo half the shingles. Has anyone else had a tool they swore was unnecessary totally save their butt?

Did you at least buy him a beer or is he still holding that over your head? Sounds like the shed's gutters are the real winners here.

Guy's gonna be talking about that favor for the next decade, I can tell. At least the gutters are clean and the beer wasn't a total loss for him.
