Appreciation post: The trick that saved our Gloomhaven campaign from falling apart

We were stuck on scenario 12 for three weeks, with our group of four ready to quit. Someone on the BGG forums said to try using the Mindthief's 'Frigid Apparition' card on the first turn, not the third. Did it last Tuesday, completely changed the enemy movement pattern. Has anyone else found a specific card play that broke a scenario wide open?

Man, that card timing is everything. We were totally stuck on the sunken temple map until our Scoundrel started saving her invisibility cloak for the second room instead of the first. It messed up all the monster focus and let our Cragheart set up a huge wall. Felt like cheating after wiping five times.

Honestly my friend's group did something like that with the Mindthief's stun. They kept wiping on a boss until someone held it back a turn. Totally broke the fight.
