Still mad about that $60 'deluxe' game expansion
Tbh I dropped $60 on that King of New York Power Up expansion last month thinking it would add some real fun to the game. Instead it just adds a bunch of clunky rules that slow everything down and one card is clearly broken. My group tried it twice and now nobody wants to play it anymore. Has anyone else had an expansion totally flop like this?

Man, that really stinks! I had the same thing happen with a Terraforming Mars expansion. I ended up house ruling the broken card and trimming out the clunkiest rules, just running it with a smaller subset of the new stuff. It took a few tries but now we play a stripped down version that works way better for our group. Have you thought about just tweaking that one card instead of ditching the whole expansion?

Yeah we ended up doing something similar with a broken economy card in our game. Just took scissors to the card and wrote a nerfed version on a sticky note stuck to the sleeve. Kept the rest of the expansion intact and it works fine now. That one card was ruining every session so it was worth the effort to just patch it instead of tossing the whole thing.
