Book club imploded over a 3-star review in Portland

Last month at our Powell's meetup, one member called The Ministry for the Future "boring" and gave it 3 stars. That single comment split our group of 11 into two camps, we spent 45 minutes arguing about climate fiction vs. realism. The moderator actually had to step in and we almost lost two regulars over it. Has anyone else had a low rating trigger a full debate meltdown?

45 minutes over a 3-star rating sounds exhausting. Some folks just can't handle a different take.
