Our club stopped fighting over the ending once we started picking a 'bad guy' together
We spent 40 minutes at the Franklin library last Tuesday just yelling about whether the sister was a liar or a hero in that Denis Johnson novel. Then a retired teacher named Carol said, what if we write down who we think is the bad guy before we even talk? We tried it and the whole thing flipped. Last meeting we got through 3 books without one person storming off, which is a record for us since 2022. Does your group do anything like this or do you just let it rip?
People storming off over a book club discussion sounds like a lot, was it really that heated before? Writing down who you think the bad guy is feels like homework, half the fun is figuring that out while you argue.
