Our club's mystery pick had a huge plot hole I nearly missed
Last month we read a detective novel set in Portland, and the whole group loved the twist. But I was checking the timeline on page 214 and realized the suspect couldn't have driven from the coast to the city in 2 hours with the roads described. I brought it up at our Thursday meetup, and two members defended it while three others agreed it broke the story for them. Has anyone else caught a location or travel error that killed a book's ending for you, or am I overthinking a minor edit mistake?

My wife still makes fun of me for the time I paused a movie to check if two towns were really that close on a map, so welcome to the club. Travel errors bug me more than they should because once you see the map in your head, you can't unsee it. The worst one for me was a book where a guy makes it across half of Montana in what felt like a lunch break. It did not ruin the whole ending but it made me trust the writer less for the last fifty pages. Two hours coast to Portland with bad roads is rough, so no, you are not overthinking it.
