Our group almost fell apart over a $75 set of discussion guides

We read 'Klara and the Sun' last month and I thought it would help to buy those fancy printed guides from a book blogger's site. They cost about $75 for the whole set, which felt like a lot but I wanted to spark a good talk. Instead, half the group felt the questions were leading and got mad, saying it ruined their own thoughts on the book. The other half loved the structure and we argued for an hour about whether guides help or hurt a club. Has your group ever used paid materials, and did it make things better or just start fights?

My buddy paid a guy to write a review for his food truck. The guy ghosted him after getting the money. He had to threaten small claims court just to get half of it back.
