That ONE person who actually puts page numbers in their book club notes, thank you
So I started keeping a little notebook for book club 6 months ago and I always write down the page number next to every point I want to bring up. Last Tuesday at our meeting in the back room of Rosie's Diner, someone brought up the ending of our pick and I flipped right to page 241 to back up what I remembered. The look on 3 faces around the table when I actually had the quote ready was worth every second of scribbling. It bugs me that most people just say "somewhere in chapter 8" and then the whole talk stalls out while everyone hunts for it. Does anyone else map out their notes by page, or am I the odd one out here?
Page 241 is great until you realize half the group is reading on a Kindle where page numbers don't even match the paper copy. We ran into that at Rosie's back in March when two people had the same book on different formats and the numbers were off by like 30 pages. So yeah, your system works, but only if everyone's holding the same version.
