TIL nonfiction book clubs dont have to be boring

I spent 3 years in a fiction only group and swore nonfiction would be dull as dirt. Then my coworker Dave invited me to his local history book club in Albany last month where they debated a book about the Erie Canal and people were actually yelling about lock systems. Anyone else find a nonfiction group that makes history feel like a thriller?

People yelling about lock systems? That sounds like a pretty low bar for excitement if you ask me.

Gotta disagree with you there, Karen. Lock systems are a big deal if you've ever had a key break off in your door or dealt with a cheap lock that jams in the cold. For folks who use locks every single day, a smooth reliable system actually makes a noticeable difference in their routine.
