Was dead set against using PVA for bookcloth until I tried it

For years I only used wheat paste for gluing bookcloth, figured PVA was too brittle and would crack on the spine. A buddy at the Boston Book Arts Center handed me a jar of Lineco PVA and dared me to try it on a project. After 40 test folds and zero cracking on a French linen I'd written off, I had to admit I was wrong. Anyone else stubbornly stick to one method for years before a simple demo changed your mind?

Tell me about it. Wasted a solid two years of my life being a wheat paste purist like a total goof.
