I thought talking to my plants was silly, but my basil changed my mind
For years I laughed at people who said they talked to their plants. It seemed like a waste of time. Then last spring, I got two identical basil seedlings from the same nursery. I put them in the same window, gave them the same water and soil. On a whim, I started chatting to one of them while I watered it, just simple stuff like 'you're looking good today.' I didn't expect anything. After about six weeks, the one I talked to was noticeably bushier and had more leaves. The other one was fine, but just not as full. I know it sounds crazy, and maybe it was just chance, but I've kept it up with other herbs and I swear they do better. Has anyone else tried this and seen a real difference, or did I just get lucky with that one plant?

Honestly, the science angle is interesting because your breath releases carbon dioxide when you talk. Plants need CO2 to grow, so maybe you're just giving that one plant a little extra dose of plant food every time you chat at it. Makes more sense than them liking your gossip.

That's a cool point from @river_reed about the CO2. But wouldn't the amount from talking be way too small to actually matter for the plant?
