Overheard a lady at the nursery say she 'talks' to her plants every morning

I was at the local greenhouse in Eugene last Saturday picking up a new fern. This older woman was telling the cashier she reads the news out loud to her monstera before work. I thought it was weird at first, but then I realized I sing to my succulents sometimes without thinking. Has anyone else caught themselves doing stuff like that with their plants?

Used to think talking to plants was crazy but now I catch myself chatting to my basil every morning.

Tbh I'm pretty sure my basil plant knows more about my day than my spouse does at this point. I named mine Basil Fawlty and now I feel weirdly guilty when I forget to water him, like I'm neglecting a friend. Ngl I've started apologizing to my aloe vera when I accidentally knock it, which is a new level of weird even for me.

Started naming my plants after characters too. My spider plant is called Sherlock and I swear he judges me when I forget to mist him. Talking to them really does make a difference though.
