My foreman swore by a $40 chalk line reel for years and I thought it was nonsense

He kept this beat-up Tajima in his bag for a decade, claiming the nylon line never snapped. I bought a cheap one from the big box store that broke on a foundation layout in July. After the third replacement, I grabbed his model and haven't had a single snap in 8 months, even in cold weather. So, is a pricier reel actually worth it, or did I just get lucky with this one?

Ever notice how the cheap version of anything always ends up costing more in the long run? You buy it three times, you're already past the price of the good one. What's something else where you've seen that happen?

Yeah, the "buy it three times" thing hits hard. I learned that with cheap phone chargers, they'd die in a month and I'd be back at the gas station buying another. Ended up with a drawer full of broken cords that cost more than one good one. It's like a tax for being broke.
