Warning about that new 'fast set' mortar mix from last month

Used it on a small garden wall in April, and by mid-June the joints were already crumbling. The rep said it was fine for exterior work, but it clearly can't handle freeze-thaw cycles. Has anyone else had a wall fail this quickly with a premix?

That "fine for exterior work" line gets me. It feels like the new standard for everything now. They sell you a product that technically works outside, but only under perfect conditions that never actually happen. My patio furniture cushions are "outdoor rated" but turn to mush after one real season. Same story, different product.

Spot that same cheap-out mindset in so many stuff now. It's like they design for a lab test, not for rain or sun or a person actually using it. My "water resistant" shoes soaked through in a light drizzle last week. Feels like we're all just buying the idea of a product that works, not one that actually lasts.
