Hot take: My mom's cheap dish soap trick actually saves me $60 a year

I was visiting my mom in Rochester last weekend and saw she keeps a spray bottle of diluted dish soap by the sink instead of buying fancy stuff. She said one bottle lasts her 4 months versus my 6 weeks with regular Dawn. I did the math and it's like $60 a year saved for something I already have. Has anyone else tried this or am I just late to the party?

$60 a year isn't nothing but it's also not life changing money. Diluted soap works fine for wiping down counters but you're gonna use more elbow grease on greasy pans. Your mom probably isn't scrubbing baked-on cheese either. Plus that spray bottle starts smelling funky after a week or two if you don't rinse it out.

I've had the opposite experience, diluted soap works great on greasy pans if you let it sit a minute.
