Appreciation post: the hostel in Lisbon that had a free walking tour signup sheet

Six months ago I stayed at this place in Lisbon where the front desk had a binder full of free walking tours, and I saved at least 40 euros on guided stuff just by signing up for the 10 AM one each day, has anyone else found a hostel that actually hooks you up with free city tours?

Oh man, I actually had a totally different experience with those hostel free walking tours. The guide rushed us through the whole city in like 90 minutes and spent half the time plugging his own paid food tour at the end. I ended up tipping him just to be polite but honestly I wouldve rather paid 20 euros for a proper tour company that actually knew the history.

Booked a paid tour through a local company instead and it was night and day difference. Guide actually stopped to answer questions and took us down side streets the free tours skip. Definitely worth dropping some cash upfront for the real deal.
