Just found out you can get a free city tour in Dublin if you know where to look
I was looking up cheap things to do there and saw a blog post about Sandemans New Europe tours. They run free walking tours where you just tip the guide at the end. I did the 3-hour one yesterday and it was great, the guide was really funny and knew all the history. I gave them 10 euros at the end, which is way less than the 25 euros the other tours charge. Has anyone else tried these free tours in other cities? Are they usually this good?

Oh, the classic "free" tour where you feel like a cheapskate if you don't tip enough. I did one in Berlin and spent the whole walk mentally calculating what I owed, which sort of ruined the fun history facts. Still cheaper than the real price, I guess, but the social pressure is real.

Exactly, it turns a learning experience into a weird math test. You're not just a tourist anymore, you're their boss doing a performance review on the spot. The whole model banks on guilt, and it makes you judge the guide's entire personality just to set a price. It ends up costing the same as a regular tour but with all the awkwardness added for free.
