My dirt-cheap flight to Mexico City came with a plastic chair overnight stay

Years back, I booked a super low fare without seeing the 10-hour stop in a small airport with no real seats. I ended up sleeping on my backpack in a cold, empty waiting area. That trip taught me to always look at layover times and airport amenities before clicking buy. Now, with all the travel info online, I never make that mistake again.

Remember a layover in Denver where the only seat was a metal bench bolted to the floor. Felt like a prison waiting room. Terry_barnes is right about cheap materials, everything is built to fail now. You pay less but you suffer more, and the airline doesn't care at all. That plastic chair overnight sounds like a special kind of torture. Makes you read the fine print on every ticket from then on, doesn't it?

The real problem is how they fail all at once, noahlane. You get a false sense of security right up until the legs give out. It's a betrayal you can see coming from a mile away.
