Rant: Why does everyone book flights through 3rd party sites?
I was booking a trip to Portland, Oregon last month and my buddy swore by some random site for a $40 deal. He ended up missing his connection cause they split his itinerary onto two separate airlines that don't talk to each other. Why do people keep ignoring that booking direct, even for $20 more, saves you from that nightmare? Am I the only one who thinks the risk isn't worth it?

My buddy used to be a diehard third-party fan too until he booked through one of those sites for a trip to Chicago. Got a screaming deal, but then the airline changed the flight time by four hours and the booking site said he had to call the airline while the airline said to call the site. He spent like 3 hours on the phone going back and forth, no joke. That was enough for me, I'll pay the extra $20 every time now just to have one number to call if things go sideways.

Booked direct last time and the airline rebooked me within 5 minutes when a storm hit.
