Serious question, my friend just called my travel style 'fear based'
I was telling my friend Sarah about how I always book my hostels months ahead to lock in the cheap price. She said, 'Isn't that just planning for the worst case? You're paying more upfront because you're scared it'll sell out.' I realized I spent $200 on a dorm bed in Berlin for next summer because I was worried. But what if a better, cheaper deal pops up? Has anyone else found that booking too early can actually cost you?

Honestly, that sounds like overthinking it to me. Tbh booking early is just being smart with your money, not scared. I locked in my flights for next year and saved a ton. If a better deal pops up later, well, that's just how it goes sometimes.

But what if you need to cancel?
