Warning: That "cheap" hostel I booked in Barcelona ended up having no AC and the booking site said it did
Took me like 3 hours of arguing with customer service to get a refund, has anyone else dealt with fake amenity listings on budget booking sites?

Ah man, that's brutal. Just a heads up though, booking sites usually say "air conditioning" but it's often just a general amenity for the whole building, not a guarantee for your specific room.

Did you try calling your bank and doing a chargeback? Honestly that's usually faster than dealing with their garbage customer service. Ngl I've been burned by those fake listings too many times to count especially in bigger European cities. The problem is these sites just copy and paste amenities from other hotels without actually checking if they're true. Tbh I started calling the hostel directly before booking just to confirm stuff like AC and wifi works in the actual room. It's annoying to do the extra work but way less stressful than fighting for a refund later.
