My buddy Dave said to just throw all my spare change in a jar and forget about it

I laughed at him last January when he handed me an empty pickle jar. But I started tossing in every quarter, dime, nickel, and penny I got back as change. Yesterday I cracked it open and counted out $147.32. Has anyone else had a random tip from a friend actually work out better than you expected?

You ever have one of those friends who gives advice that sounds completely bonkers in the moment, but then it turns out they were right? My buddy Mike told me to keep my old t-shirts that had holes in them instead of tossing them. I thought he was nuts until I needed rags for a messy paint job last summer and had a whole drawer full of perfectly good cloth I'd have thrown away. Saved me a trip to the store and probably ten bucks. That pickle jar trick your buddy shared is definitely paying off better than a lot of the stuff I hear on social media.

Mike's t-shirt trick is gold, I've been doing that for years. @shanegibson once your paint rags get too nasty you just toss them, no guilt at all. Same goes for old socks, they make great dusting rags too.
