My sister swears by meal prepping, but my win was buying day-old bread.
I saved more cash this month by grabbing marked-down bakery stuff instead of doing all that advance cooking.

That's the real pro move right there. My local bakery practically pays me to take their yesterday's bagels and rolls. Spent all that time cooking ahead just feels like extra work now.

But wait, that actually sounds like more mental work to me. You're tied to the bakery's schedule and whatever they didn't sell, so you're planning meals around surprise items. Cooking ahead, you just make what you already know you want. The discount is great, but it swaps one kind of work for another.

My corner store marks down pastries to like fifty cents at the end of the day. I used to spend hours every weekend cooking big batches of food. Then I saw how much money I was wasting on ingredients that sometimes went bad. Now I grab whatever cheap bread or rolls they have and build simple meals around that. It takes less time upfront and I'm not stuck eating the same thing all week. The surprise element actually makes dinner more fun and way cheaper.
