PSA: I stopped tracking every $4 coffee and started tracking my big bills, saved $180 in one month
I used to log every cup and snack in an app and it never moved the needle, then 6 months ago I switched to just tracking rent, car, and groceries on a paper sheet and found $180 of junk I could cut. Has anyone else noticed the small stuff gets all the attention while the big bills slide by?
This is the same stuff that happens everywhere. People obsess over the little things because they feel easy to control, then the giant leaks just sit there leaking. Think about a leaky roof, you keep putting a bucket under the drip and patting yourself on the back for handling it, but the whole ceiling is rotting above you. Or you'll spend an hour clipping coupons and never once look at the three streaming plans you forgot you were paying for. The small stuff feels like progress because you can see it happening. The big bills are boring and scary, so we ignore them.
