Took me 11 days to figure out my grocery budget was bleeding $140 a month on stuff I wasn't even eating
Honestly I thought I was doing fine with a $400 monthly grocery budget until I actually added up every receipt for 3 weeks and saw I was hitting $540. The problem was all these little trips, like running to the store in Pittsburgh for one thing and walking out with $30 of snacks and stuff I forgot I already had at home. I kept blaming inflation but the real issue was I never checked what was already in my pantry or fridge before going. So I started doing a 5 minute fridge audit every Sunday and writing a list on the back of an old envelope, and last month I came in at $385. Tbh the weird part is I'm eating better now too, not just grabbing random stuff. Has anyone else tried the envelope thing or do you use an app to track this?
