Hot take: My bullet journal meal plan is more art project than helpful tool

I tried to make a pretty section for my family's favorite meals (you know, with washi tape and everything). But now when I go grocery shopping, I can't quickly check what I need because it's all over the place. It feels like I'm spending more time decorating than actually planning my food. Maybe I should just use a plain notebook for this stuff.

My bullet journal meal plan is covered in washi tape, and I actually use it more because it's fun to look at. Maybe keep the art for your favorites but add a quick reference page for shopping.

I had a meal journal that was so decorated I avoided writing in it. My fix was using colorful index cards as removable shopping lists clipped to each week. The pretty pages stay perfect, and I just grab the card on my way out. It turned meal planning from a chore into something I actually WANT to do. Adding a separate quick list sounds like a solid plan for sure.

Keep the art, but use a phone note for shopping.
