I put a $2.99 shower curtain ring on my $180 work bag and it outlasted the strap hardware
Everyone says buy the expensive bag and it lasts forever, but my $180 canvas messenger bag lost a strap clip after 14 months of daily carry in Seattle. I swapped in a cheap metal shower curtain ring from the hardware store down the street as a joke, and that ring is still holding three years later while the original clip is long gone. I'm not saying buy junk, but the money in a bag mostly goes to the fabric and stitching, not the little metal bits that fail first. Anyone else find that the cheap fix outlasts the fancy part it replaced?
Oh come on, a shower curtain ring working for three years just means you got lucky once! For every cheap ring that holds, there's ten that snap or rust the second you bump into a door. The real reason your bag died is Seattle rain and daily beatings, not because expensive clips are somehow a scam.
