My $40 Harbor Freight sander died in 3 months, the $180 one from 2019 is still going
I killed two cheap random orbital sanders in a single kitchen cabinet job back in 2019, so I swallowed hard and bought a nicer one for around $180 instead of the usual $40 throwaway. That sander has now been through four whole house trim jobs, a deck rebuild, and a friend's boat project, and it still runs smooth with just a pad swap here and there. Where do you all draw the line between cheap and buy once, because I honestly still grab the cheap stuff for jobs I am not sure I will ever do again?
