Used a $12 folding knife on everything for 8 years, finally switched to a $45 one and now I get the hype
Carried the same cheap knife through 3 apartments and a job change in Denver, sharpened it maybe twice a year and just dealt with it. Bought a nicer one last month and the blade actually holds an edge past a week, which I never knew was possible. Anyone else hang onto a beater way longer than they should have?

Wait, you sharpened it only TWICE a year for 8 years?? That blade must have been basically a butter knife by the end.
