A veteran installer told me my cable ties were too tight and it changed my whole approach
I used to crank those zip ties down as hard as I could until a guy with 25 years in the game pointed out I was crushing the jacket and causing signal loss. Now I leave them just snug enough to hold the bundle but with a little play. Anyone else learn a basic thing way later than you should have?

The tightness thing gets talked about but nobody mentions how overtightening makes future troubleshooting a nightmare. Had to cut a bundle once where some dipstick used industrial grade ties at maximum tension and nicked three cables in the process. Leave them a little loose and you can actually slide a new cable into the bundle later without redoing the whole mess.

Wait, you're saying being loose is actually better for future work? Never thought of it that way but damn that makes total sense.
