Honestly, calling it a pain in the ass feels a bit much. It's just a wall. You get the right tape, you pull it through, you're done. People make it sound like you're doing brain surgery. I've seen guys get hung up on way easier stuff than some old plaster.

Oh man, I get it now! I used to think all fish tape was the same, but those old plaster walls are a different beast. @phoenixa64 is right, that sounds rough. I had to switch to a flat steel tape for a similar job, the regular stuff just kept getting stuck.
